So I started on my "final concept" for the Journeyman application today.
I was reading the brief that I got from the university and I noticed that for my chosen theme (Hashima, Japan) the specified look and feel should be "Post Apocolyptica".
This made me happy, I've always wanted to do something in that style.
I immediately thought of "Mad Max" and decided I wanted to do a Post Apocalyptic Waste-lander Car, although I'm aware that a car would be quite useless on an island as small as Hashima but I can't think of much else to do and we haven't been given much guidance on what it is we're expected to produce so I'm going to make a car, decision made.
I made a moodboard of the kind of car I had in mind;

I want a used, beaten up, repeatedly repaired look. It has to look like the owner has found a car, repaired it with bits of rubbish and customised it to be the perfect wastelander car
Next I had to pick a car, Hashima is an island off the coast of Japan that was abandoned in the 1970s so I looked in a book I have called "The Car Book" for a cool Japanese Car from the 1970s and found the "Datsun Fairlady 250z";

I've always liked this car, it has such a nice shape and is a 70s icon, I particularly like the rally version with it's beefy tyres and beat up, used bodywork. Even the lights are cool!
With this car and my moodboard in mind I sketched this concept;

It's not perfect but I like the way this is going, I've stopped working now to get some dinner but I will add colour tomorrow.
I think I have found my final concept idea!
